Tesla is making a major investment in Brookshire, Texas, with plans to expand its operations by building a new $150 million battery factory. The project is expected to bring 1,500 new jobs to the area, boosting both the local economy and the manufacturing sector.
Facility & Expansion Details
Location: 111 Empire Blvd., inside the Empire West Business Park.
Current Operations: Tesla already occupies 1 million square feet at this location.
Future Development: Plans include a new 600,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 103 Empire Blvd.
Project Phases & Investment
Tesla’s expansion will happen in multiple phases, with significant investment from both Tesla and its partners:
Phase 2:
Stream Realty Partners will invest $44 million to upgrade Tesla’s existing facility, including electrical and HVAC improvements.
Tesla will contribute $150 million to install advanced battery manufacturing equipment.
Phase 3:
Stream Realty will build a new $31.5 million manufacturing facility.
Tesla will invest an additional $2 million to $5 million in distribution equipment and facility improvements.
Job Creation & Workforce Goals
Tesla has committed to gradually increasing its workforce, with specific employment targets:
Year 1: At least 375 employees.
Year 2: At least 750 employees.
Year 3 and beyond: A minimum of 1,500 employees, maintained through 2035.
